Terms of service
These terms cover the ResearchTogether desktop app and the Community website at researchtogether.co. Using either means you agree to them.
The service
ResearchTogether is free. The desktop app works on your own files and needs a model account you supply for AI features. Community lets you publish reviewed versions of projects, discuss them and contribute to other people's work. We may change or stop parts of the service; your local files are unaffected by that.
Your content
You own what you write, upload and publish. By publishing to Community you give us permission to store, display and deliver that content to the people your project's visibility allows, and you give those people permission to read it, download it and propose changes within the app. Do not publish material you do not have the right to share, including other people's personal data or confidential research.
Acceptable use
Do not use the service to harass people, spread malware, attempt to access accounts or data that are not yours, or disrupt the service. We may remove content or suspend accounts that break these rules.
AI providers and your accounts
AI features run on providers you connect with your own key or account. Their terms and charges apply to that use, and you are responsible for what you send them. Review what a model produces before relying on it; the app shows every command and file change so you can.
The installer
The current macOS build is not yet notarized by Apple, so macOS asks you to allow it once. Download it only from researchtogether.co. Keep backups of your project folders as you would with any software.
No warranty and limits on liability
The service is provided as is, without warranties of any kind. To the extent the law allows, we are not liable for indirect or consequential losses, or for loss of data, arising from your use of the service.
Changes
When these terms change, the new version appears here with a new date. Continuing to use the service after that means you accept the change.
